Product Introduction:

Non-ionic polyacrylamide (NPAM) is a type of polyacrylamide classified according to its ionic characteristics. It is a water-soluble, linear high-molecular-weight polymer synthesized via free-radical polymerization of acrylamide (AM) monomers.

At ambient temperature, NPAM exists as a hard, glassy solid. Commercial forms include aqueous solutions, emulsions (latex), white powders or granules, semi-transparent beads, and thin flakes. It is miscible with water in any proportion, forming a clear, homogeneous solution. However, over extended storage periods, the viscosity of the solution gradually decreases due to slow polymer degradation—a phenomenon more pronounced under poor storage and transportation conditions.

NPAM is insoluble in most organic solvents such as methanol and ethanol, with only limited solubility in a few polar organic solvents. Even in these cases, dissolution typically requires heating to be practically useful.

Papermaking industry: Enhances the retention of fillers, pigments, and other additives; improves both dry and wet strength of paper; reduces loss of raw materials; minimizes environmental pollution; and enhances the paper’s appearance and printability. It can also be used as a dispersant, retention aid, and drainage aid in papermaking.

Textile industry: Used as a sizing agent to stabilize the sizing solution and reduce yarn breakage during weaving; it can also be employed as a finishing agent.

Petroleum industry: Used to prevent water channeling, reduce frictional resistance, and enhance oil recovery. It is widely applied in drilling, acidizing, hydraulic fracturing, water shutoff, cementing, as well as secondary and tertiary oil recovery operations.

Coal washing and mineral processing: Used as a flotation agent and clarifier to facilitate solid-liquid separation.

Other industries: It can also be used for feed protein recovery, incense production, construction (as a thickening agent), protein extraction, gelatin clarification, and paint mist coagulation.
