Denitrifying bacterial strains

Denitrifying bacterial strains are functional microbial consortia used in wastewater treatment. They primarily consist of denitrifying bacteria capable of converting nitrate nitrogen into nitrogen gas under anoxic conditions. These strains enhance the system's denitrification capacity, efficiently remove total nitrogen, and effectively address issues of excessive total nitrogen in wastewater. They are suitable for various treatment systems, including industrial and municipal wastewater. For optimal performance, appropriate operational conditions must be maintained, such as a pH range of 7–8, temperature between 20–35°C, and dissolved oxygen levels below 0.5 mg/L. Their application improves system stability and treatment efficiency, facilitating compliance with effluent discharge standards and playing a vital role in environmental protection.

Product Details

Product Introduction:

Denitrifying bacterial products are typically formulated by fermenting a consortium of multiple denitrifying strains through specialized processes. Their primary components include denitrifying bacteria, nitrifying bacteria, nitrogen-fixing bacteria, and other beneficial microorganisms. Some heterotrophic nitrifying-denitrifying products consist of beneficial bacteria such as Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas stutzeri, Bacillus licheniformis, and yeast, along with their metabolic byproducts. These microbial products effectively convert nitrate and nitrite into nitrogen gas, thereby reducing the total nitrogen concentration in the effluent of wastewater treatment systems and mitigating nitrogen-induced eutrophication in rivers, lakes, and ornamental water bodies.

Product Advantages:

Strong denitrification capacity: The included bacterial strains have been rigorously selected and acclimatized over an extended period, resulting in robust stress-tolerant strains capable of rapid nitrogen removal across various wastewater treatment systems. Certain products can achieve effluent total nitrogen concentrations below 10 mg/L, with removal efficiencies reaching up to 98%, effectively eliminating nitrate nitrogen.

Excellent adaptability: Compared to conventional denitrifying strains, these bacteria exhibit superior adaptability, enhancing the stability of wastewater treatment systems. They can accommodate varying wastewater compositions and treatment configurations, and certain products are specifically suited for organic wastewater containing ammonia nitrogen, salts, and nitrite.

Cold tolerance: These strains exhibit enhanced cold resistance. Certain products are effective at water temperatures of 5–10°C and can still grow at 4°C. Under conditions below 20°C, their metabolic activity, growth, and reproduction rates outperform other similar products available on the market, making them well-suited for denitrification tasks in low-temperature environments.

Rapid recovery and startup: These products can quickly restore the denitrification capacity of wastewater treatment systems that have been subjected to shock loads, effectively enhancing system operational efficiency. Certain formulations can initiate system functionality within just 2–3 days.

Environmentally friendly and safe: Based on microbial degradation principles, it contains no chemical additives and is non-toxic with no adverse side effects.

Excellent overall performance: Effectively removes BOD, COD, and TSS, significantly enhances solid settling in sedimentation tanks, and markedly improves effluent quality—thereby reducing wastewater treatment costs. It also increases the abundance and diversity of protozoa, effectively reduces excess sludge production, decreases the need for chemical additives such as flocculants, saves energy consumption, and efficiently suppresses the proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms.

Cost-effective: Certain products can rapidly bring total nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, and COD into compliance within just three days. Once dosed, as long as the biological treatment system remains undisturbed, no further continuous addition is required. If water quality parameters remain stable and within target ranges, re-dosing is unnecessary—saving both time and operational costs.

Service Industries:

Suitable for various industries dealing with wastewater containing high levels of total nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen, including but not limited to the following:

Municipal wastewater: Treats sewage generated from daily residential activities and reduces total nitrogen levels in the wastewater.

Industrial wastewater: Including pharmaceutical, petrochemical, coking, fertilizer, and landfill leachate effluents, helping industrial facilities address issues of excessive total nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen in their wastewater.

Aquaculture: Treats aquaculture water bodies to reduce nitrogenous nutrient levels, mitigating eutrophication and improving the farming environment.

Landscape water and river/lake remediation: Reduces nitrogen nutrient-induced eutrophication in rivers, lakes, and ornamental water bodies, helping restore aquatic ecosystems.

Other industries: Also widely applied in domestic wastewater treatment projects, municipal engineering, chemical processing, oil refining, metallurgy, papermaking, and other sectors.
