Heavy metal scavenger

Lason-915 Heavy Metal Scavenger is a high-molecular-weight polymer that strongly chelates heavy metal ions. It effectively reacts with various heavy metal ions—such as Cu²⁺, Cd²⁺, Hg²⁺, Pb²⁺, Mn²⁺, Ni²⁺, Zn²⁺, and Cr³⁺—in wastewater under ambient temperature and across a broad pH range. Within a short time, it rapidly forms stable chelates with these metal ions, which then precipitate out with the assistance of polyaluminum chloride (PAC) or alkaline aluminum salts, thereby achieving efficient capture and removal of heavy metals.

The treatment process is straightforward—simply dosing Lason-915 directly into the wastewater effectively removes heavy metal ions. This scavenger efficiently precipitates heavy metals, significantly reducing their concentrations in the effluent and enabling full compliance with the discharge limits specified in Table 3 of China’s National Standard GB 21900-2008.

Common heavy metal pollutants include mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), manganese (Mn), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), and zinc (Zn). In industrial processes, heavy metals are often irreplaceable, leading to excessive concentrations of heavy metal ions in wastewater. Due to their high toxicity and persistence—they cannot be naturally degraded once discharged—the national regulations strictly limit the permissible levels of heavy metal ions in both wastewater and exhaust emissions.

Selectivity order: Hg²⁺ > Ag⁺ > Cu²⁺ > Pb²⁺ > Cd²⁺ > Zn²⁺ > Ni²⁺ > Co²⁺ > Cr³⁺ > Fe²⁺ > Mn²⁺

Product Details

Product Introduction

Heavy metal scavengers are chemical agents capable of forming stable chelates or precipitates with heavy metal ions in wastewater. These agents typically contain specific functional groups that exhibit strong chelating and adsorptive properties, effectively removing heavy metals from water. When added to wastewater, the functional groups in their molecules react with heavy metal ions through complexation, forming stable complexes that generally have low solubility and can be easily separated from the water via sedimentation, filtration, or other solid–liquid separation methods. Additionally, certain heavy metal scavengers can promote polymerization reactions among heavy metal ions, generating larger particulate precipitates and thereby enhancing removal efficiency.

Product Advantages

Wide applicability: Effective across a pH range of 2 to 14, capable of treating various heavy metals in complex wastewater streams.

Strong chelating capacity: The molecular structure has been specially engineered at the micro level to effectively capture heavy metal ions such as copper, zinc, and nickel. It can reduce copper ions to 0.3 mg/L, zinc ions to 1 mg/L, and nickel ions to 0.1 mg/L, meeting China’s National Discharge Standard (Table 3).

Diverse types: Available in various forms, including sulfide-based, polymeric chelating agents, nanomaterials, and bio-adsorbents. Different types are tailored for wastewater with varying characteristics:Sulfide-based scavengers offer rapid reaction kinetics, excellent precipitation performance, and low treatment costs;Polymeric chelating agents provide high selectivity, fast reaction rates, and superior removal efficiency, making them ideal for wastewater containing multiple heavy metal ions;Nanomaterials and bio-adsorbents are highly efficient, environmentally friendly, and often regenerable.

Service Industries

Electroplating industry: The electroplating process generates large volumes of wastewater containing heavy metals. By dosing heavy metal scavengers, copper, nickel, chromium, cadmium, lead, and other heavy metal ions can be effectively removed, significantly reducing the toxicity of the wastewater and ensuring compliance with discharge standards.

Mining industry: Wastewater generated during mining operations often contains high concentrations of heavy metals. Pre-treatment with heavy metal scavengers effectively reduces the load on downstream treatment processes and enhances overall wastewater treatment efficiency.

Metallurgical industry: Wastewater from metallurgical processes contains high levels of heavy metals. Advanced treatment using heavy metal scavengers ensures that the wastewater meets environmental regulations before reuse or discharge.

Electronics industry: The manufacturing process in the electronics industry generates large volumes of wastewater containing heavy metal ions. Using heavy metal scavengers significantly reduces the concentration of heavy metals in the wastewater, thereby enhancing the quality and safety of electronic products.

Textile dyeing industry: Heavy metal ions such as chromium and cadmium present in dyeing wastewater can be effectively removed through treatment with scavengers, ensuring that dyed products meet environmental standards.

Chemical industry: Wastewater from the chemical industry often contains multiple heavy metal elements. Heavy metal scavengers can form stable precipitates, enabling effective separation of heavy metal ions.

Mining tailings treatment industry: Heavy metals in tailings wastewater can be removed, reducing the risk of environmental pollution.
